Police arrest 3 suspects linked to transnational crime ring behind multiple Orange County burglaries

Three men believed to be connected to a transnational organized crime ring have been arrested following an investigation into a series of residential burglaries targeting upscale neighborhoods throughout Orange County, according to law enforcement officials.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Irvine and Newport Beach police departments, which had been tracking a group suspected of targeting hillside homes in affluent communities. Authorities said the suspects allegedly traveled from the Los Angeles area into Orange County to commit the crimes before returning north.

Detectives began focusing on the group after identifying a vehicle believed to be connected to several recent burglaries. Investigators said the suspects frequently targeted homes backing up to hillsides, parks, and trails, often entering through rear sliding glass doors, balconies, or other less-visible access points.  

Police surveillance efforts eventually led investigators to the Shady Canyon area of Irvine, a neighborhood that has experienced residential burglaries in the past. Authorities observed several individuals allegedly jumping fences, moving through brush, and carrying backpacks in what investigators believed was an attempt to burglarize homes. The suspects reportedly fled before officers could make contact.  

Following weeks of surveillance, police arrested John Brayan Soliz-Reinoso, 32, Francisco Alegria, 32, and Daniel Mejia-Reinoso, 22, in the Los Angeles area. Authorities said the men were booked on burglary and conspiracy-related charges. Investigators are still searching for at least one additional suspect believed to be connected to the group.  

Residents say the arrests come as welcome news after a string of break-ins that have left many homeowners concerned. Police noted the investigation remains active and believe the group may be connected to additional burglaries throughout Southern California.
